Wow! What a year ...... New Staff, New Premises, More Food, Major Milestones
Milestones - So far this year we have distributed a whopping 130 tonnes of food! This is compared to 97 tonnes for the same period last year (Jan to Nov). We have also passed a major milestone - we have distributed over 1 million equivalent meals since we started back in July 2015!
New Premises ..... Satisfy has Moved
We officially opened our new space on 11th November with a joint Anglican and Māori blessing followed by a rousing waiata from our staff and trustees. A wonderful spread of food was enjoyed by our many guests.
Our volunteers and staff now have PLENTY of space to work in and there is a lovely chill out/lounging zone. While our previous space was small, we do miss our friends at Kaiapoi Community Support.
We are now able to receive more food donations due to our increased space. This past month we have taken on two regular bulk food donors – Scottfresh and NZ Food Network.
This move has been made possible by a generous grant from the Ministry of Social Development (MSD). We view this move as a temporary one as we are working on a concept plan with Waimakariri District Council to build a collaborative space in Kaiapoi – a Kaiapoi Community Hub. We hope to have a purpose built, dedicated Satisfy warehouse/operations space as part of the hub. Lookout for updates on this exciting new project!
New Staff... Welcome Cameron Crawley, Operations Coordinator
We were able to secure enough funding this year to add another staff member to our team.
Cameron is a recent graduate from Victoria University and is extremely passionate about sustainability, food waste and finding ways to help organisations thrive. Studying geography and environmental studies has opened his eyes to ways in which people can collectively create a sustainable future and a better quality of life.
Wishing you a very Merry Christmas & a wonderful New Year!
Thank you so much for supporting Satisfy this year, it has certainly been a year like no other!
