Satisfy Food Rescue is based in Kaiapoi, North Canterbury, New Zealand.

We work collaboratively with local food retailers and community organisations to re-direct surplus perishable food that would otherwise have been destined for landfill or animal feed to those in the community who most need it.
Our focus is on the Waimakariri, Christchurch City and Hurunui Districts where we distribute rescued food to large and small food banks, community meal providers, schools, iwi, and other organisations supporting people with kai.

"The kai that we receive from Satisfy allows us to tautoko (support) many whanau and individuals in need each week. People come to Wai-Ora to collect kai boxes, and this allows them to engage with our community in other areas. While the kai fills a need in their physical belly, the interaction and care they receive when they come to collect their kai box allows them to connect and realise, they have people that care. If we couldn’t receive the food from Satisfy Food Rescue these individuals would not only struggle to feed their whanau, but they would remain socially isolated and marginalised. Each week we support between 200-300 people with kai."

The impact our Satisfy Food Hampers have on families and individuals has been incredible to see. We've had people burst into tears because someone cares enough to help them practically.
We're supporting those who are struggling to make ends meet because of sickness, unexpected one-off expenses (ie car breakdowns), income flow issues (especially the self-employed), those supporting their tamariki & mokopuna, and pensioners.
This year we've changed things up to meet the need for people to connect, be heard and fed. So we use some of the Satisfy kai to provide Thursday Lunch@Thrive where we also have 'Help Yourself kai' available. This has been effective in providing kai to a wider community'
